SHARYN HILLYER, RELATIONSHIP AND LIFE COACH

Sharyn loves that this group is filled with people committed to learning, growing, desiring to all that they can be.  Many of us have not yet fully succeeded in reaching the levels that we want to reach, whether it is the business, the relationship, confidence, or perhaps not playing golf well enough.  From almost silent whispers from our parents to current thoughts, we are all susceptible to these old messages.  Sharyn coaches in person, on the phone and of course, offers Tuesday’s With Sharyn.  Contact her for details.  Recognize; Refuse (say “no’); Replace  (“I have what it takes”).http://tinyurl.com/287mrqq

CLAUDIA PRECIADO, CAREGIVERS USA, TRUST, LOVE AND CARE

Claudia works with her mother, Alicia, providing private care-giving to elders and disabled.  Claudia went to work with Alicia when she was giving special performances for elders.  She and her siblings grew up respecting and caring for elders.  Claudia graduated from Cal State L.A. and subsequently did undercover work.  Not wanting to continue in this risky field, she and her mother started Caregivers, taking care of elders and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Caregivers checks the background of all employees, finding people with experience handling simple elders who need help; diabetics, people with dementia and any other type of care.  Unlike an independent caregiver, Claudia’s employees have worker’s comp insurance, are fully bonded and insured and experienced, thereby eliminating liability from their clientele.http://tinyurl.com/22szvhn

BARRY MOSER, CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT

What is more interesting than taxes and accounting at 7 a.m.. on a Friday morning? Barry’s philosophy is to minimize his client’s tax liability and increase their profits. Two items that occur often: people who get tax advice from friends and what type of entity do I want for my business? Talk to your attorney (Martin Horwitz), then consult with your tax professional, Barry Moser. The tax code is quite complicated with frequent changes (e.g., The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009), so call an experienced professional, Barry Moser.http://tinyurl.com/27rg8hc

EXECUTIVE LETIP IS THE STRONGEST LETIP GROUP WORLD WIDE

Eric Hatfield, Chapter President, Eve Mazzara, Past President Cathy Cahill, Vice President and Justin Sloggatt, TipMaster presented a talk on LeTip common comments and concerns:
The LeTip Model: there is a flip chart of how to conduct a meeting which is a LeTip requirement to be followed at every meeting.
The By-laws are the glue that holds this club together. The By-laws protect the membership when there are conflicts.
Several definitions of the various committees that may confuse you:
The conflicts committee (conflicts that might arise between potential incoming members and existing members), Sam Rosenberg, Sigmund Thomas, Jane Silverstein, Lisa Paschall).
The Better Business Bureau, also Sam, Sigmund, Jane and Lisa (business to business, not as intense as an ethics violation),
Ethics: Tony Santarelli (an issue that’s bigger than the Better Business Bureau)
Membership: Applicants can be voted out if they are not doing a good match for the group and Members can be terminated for failure to abide by the ByLaws.
Sam and Tony are the first level of addressing issues where members are talking about each other.
Negative Energy: a very small minority can have a negative effect on the entire group. If there is criticism, make sure it is constructive. If there are other issues, use the committees that are in place to deal with the conflicts you are having.

KAREN SANDLER, BOARD CERTIFIED FAMILY DOCTOR

Board Certified Family Doctor, in LeTip since 1998.  Today she spoke about diabetes, a very, very common problem.  The definition is a fasting glucose level greater than or equal to 126.  Symptoms of diabetes plus random glucose greater than 200.  Test everyone greater than 45, or younger than 45 with BMI greater than or equal to 25.
If you are diabetic, you need many, frequent blood tests to check your blood pressure, kidneys, annual eye exam, check the bottoms of feet every night for cuts, cholesterol, thyroid, etc.  Poor diet is a contributing factor, in addition to genetic, inactivity and obesity.  Symptoms include blurred vision, weight loss, excessive thirst, fatigue, weakness, frequent superficial infections and poor wound healing.
Treatment includes a healthy diet (use a certified nutritionist), exercise, evaluate other causes and correct.  Type 1 DM is treated with insulin.  Type 2 DM is treated with oral medications, insulin plus orals, or other subcutaneous injections..  Some of the newer drugs do not cause weight gain as did the earlier medications.  See your doctor if you have been using Avandia.  Get tested, exercise and avoid sugary foods and fast foods.
Karen is a generalist who educates, diagnoses and treats many health problems.  She is also an HIV specialist.  A good tip is anybody not feeling well, or feeling well and wants to continue feeling well or anybody needing a 2nd opinion.  Also anybody needing a vaccine.http://tinyurl.com/276md2d

KATHERINE BLAKE,TRANSWORLD COLLECTIONS -- GREEN FLAG PROFIT RECOVERY

GreenFlag Profit Recovery, a traditional collection agency.   The tools to help you MIND your own BUSINESS.  As a progressive company, GreenFlag has been in business for 40 years and they are quite updated in their technology.  This technology used to be offered to the largest clients with 5000 accounts and now they use it on smaller accounts.  GreenFlag uses a four-stage approach, initially with a statement that looks like it comes directly from the client. 80% of collections for late payments are done by a 3rd party and GreenFlag is the best in the industry.  Have You Been Paid?  If not, contact Transworld 4.0 for international collection work.  Her most important client is the medical field (80% of all collections), but she can help security companies, one-time collections.http://tinyurl.com/2emykfn

DAVID BLATTEL, PHOTOGRAPHER

He sells calendars of motorcycles without the woman.  David showed us a picture of McNulty, one of his models.  David has been doing photography since 1978 and the quality shows.  He can do a panoramic shot with multiple shots, making it absolutely amazing, creating highlights as necessary.   He showed samples of his work, including Harry’s Auto Body; A Harley on the beach in Hawaii; inside his wife’s shop, Vidiots; a shot off the S. Monica Pier for Waves Distinctive Home Theatre; and technical shot for a plumbing parts manufacturer; and some spectacular shots in Yosemite.http://tinyurl.com/2ce5dro

JACK BERLIN, ON DEMAND PRINTING CENTER

Putting ink on paper, vinyl, cars and all kinds of printing. Jack has 36 years experience in this business and knows what he’s doing.  He moved in with a larger company to offer more services at a better price.
Display and exhibition booth displays, posters, business cards, letter-head.   Proof-reading should be done by somebody else.  A typical example is a word that is duplicated.
Running 10,000 copies today is simple for a quality printer, which obviates the need for off-set printing.  Four-color digital printers are fantastic and gang runs are possible, keeping costs down (perhaps 1/10th of what they used to cost).http://tinyurl.com/28bzvgb
